Multidimensional Realism: A New Twist On The Old

It is impossible to see in this photo just how three dimensional this painting is.

This work was painted while in worship. There are some things about it that I have no explanation for, like the fact that the face changes from a smile to a sigh when one walks toward it in a large room, or the way the face changes dramatically when the light is changed from left to right.

This painting took 10mos. to paint and contains some unusual media. The hair is real hair of many types donated by a friend of mine who is a beautician, painted as if one type. The whip contains real glass and rocks. His skin tones are made up of the skin tones of every race of people; fitting since Jesus is the second Adam, and all men came from Adam.

I have a photo diary of the process which I will be posting soon. The eyes were painted last which is the opposite of the portrait norm. I painted them while not in worship one night and in the morning it looked as someone came in and painted cartoon eyes on my painting. I went to prayer the next night and saw how to paint three dimensional eyes with lids, lashes, and tears.

The inspiration for this work came like this…

While in prayer one night, I saw Jesus tied to the whipping
post.
In the shadows of a wall and doorway. It seemed dark
though in the middle of the day and His eyes were such a
beautiful shade of blue that they almost glowed.

His gaze was fixed upon me as waves of His love washed
over me. I could see that He was concentrating on His love for
me to gain stregnth to endure the coming torture. I could hear
Him say,” I love you, and My love is not fickle as is the love of
the world. This price that I pay is not too much for you.You are
worth it to Me. You will never have to fear that I might back
down, give up or walk away from My love for you. My love is
fiercely and eternally loyal. My love never quits and My love
never fails.”

I was impressed later and in prayer given instructions to
paint this vision and let everyone know that this is His love
for ALL of us ! As it became difficult to paint the wounds ,
Jesus reminded me that He did not pay a little bit of blood
for a little bit of healing.
As many artists have spared viewers
the emotional impact, they have spared them the revelation
of their value and too often, their healing as well.

May this work touch you and bless you , In Jesus Name
Amen

I make it a point to never comment on Religion - so - the art work is amazing - I cannot believe the “textures” you went in search of to create it. Amzing work.

Thanks for sharing some of your process in creating this piece. I think that’s just as interesting as the resulting artwork itself, maybe more so as your experiences while creating it truly live in the work!

    Wowww !

    What a painting… and what a picture !

The work is great. You have no explanation for the fact that the face changes from a smile to a sigh when one walks toward it in a large room. It seems to be an effect like “La Joconde” of Leonardo De Vinci. Perhaps, you’re a genius ;-).

The symbolism of this painting is very strong. This is an excellent job. The three dimensional aspects and use of materials other than paint confers a particular spirit to this painting.

I think many people would be touched by seeing this painting.

    May God be with you,

    Guigui

First i would like to say thankyou for adding me as a friend. I try to always go to the blogs of those who request to be friends so i can see what each person is about. And i will usually leave a comment.

You are an amazing artist. And to see that you are using your artistic ability for the glory of the Lord is awesome. So i praise Him for what you are doing for His glory. Your art work is very different and unique. I have never seen anything like it before.

I especially was alerted when you were speaking of your vision and you seen Jesus’ eyes and they were blue as if they were glowing. When our daughter was about 10 years old she also had seen Jesus’ in a vision and she described His eyes just as you did. It reminds me of the scripture in Rev. where it says that His eyes were like fire. Most people think orange or red. The hottest part of the fire is the glowing white that you will see within a blue flame.

I really enjoy your blog i will be back to view it again.. May God continue to bless you for His glory and for His Kingdom.

wonderful work….is this a worship painting?….I have been a worship painter for about 8 years now…would love to talk…I have both worship and studio paintings on the site…I also work in oil. I would like to know what you hear and feel while you worship paint…God has blessed me with over 100 pieces, they are in over 36 churches in 4 countries. This last October God let me dance for Jesus with paintbrushes in front of a TV camera for the whole world to see, I have been so blessed, since I decided to give Him back His gift to me….!!!! Now I’m in Honduras teaching prophetic art here…and hopefully in the next months will be in front of the Camera again dancing this time for all of Latin America to see the power of the Holy Spirit in full color.

Blessings and again great work. I especially like the fact that Jesus isn’t blanco….
    Nathan
